21st Amendment Back In Black Beer Review
I went through 21st Amendment Brewery's whole lineup when they first started distributing around here, but it has been quite a while since I last had 21st Amendment Back in Black, which is an American Black Ale with 6.8% Alcohol By Volume (ABV). Back in Black is one of 21st Amendment's year round offerings.
21st Amendment Back in Black is a dark brown into black colored beer, sporting a large, foamy tan head which leaves behind lots of sticky lacing.
The nose has a nice amount of chocolate and caramel notes which are balanced out with citrus and floral hop notes.
Malts are pretty dominant in the taste, caramel and black, lightly roasted, with the hop finish starting floral, moving through citrus and winding with a touch of a resinous bitterness. The mouth is medium bodied and actively carbonated.
It has been a few years since the last time I had 21st Amendment Back in Black, and it will probably be a few more years until I pick it up again. Overall its a pretty nice beer, but it could use a little tweaking. Worth checking out if you're a Black IPA fan though.
